Inguinal hernia, minimally invasive surgery

Almost all repairs done today are open tension-free repairs that involve the placement of a synthetic mesh to strengthen the inguinal region.

In all minimally invasive techniques the heniation site is closed with a net.

Two approaches are differentiated:

  • TAPP-technique, the mesh is placed laparoscopically
  • TEP-technique, mesh is placed minimally invasive through strechted layers of the abdominal wall.
