Breast cancer, mammary carcinoma

Breast cancer is an often observed malignom, mostly located in the outer quadrant of the breast. The incidence is predominantly between the fifth and sixth decade, even though 30% of patients are younger than 40. As with most cancers, age is a significant factor, but also adipositas, diabetes, genetic factors and family history of breast cancer. Hormonal influences are important because they encourage cell growth. The node or tumor can be detected by self-examination or mammography, or an MRI in case of a high-risk patient. Due to calcareous deposits, the carcinoma appears white in the mammography.
